WiZink Center is a very popular venue for concerts and sports events in Madrid. It was earlier named “Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid” which means “Sports Palace of the Community of Madrid”. Earlier there was an arena at the same place which was destroyed in a fire, and a new high-tech arena was built at the location between 2002-2005. If you come to WiZink Center today, you will see the arena constructed after the fire.
The arena has had many names since its inception, not only has it been known as “Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad”, but it has also been referred to as the “Barclaycard Center”, due to sponsership agreements. The venue has capacity for 13,000 for basketball matches, space for 14,000 for handball matches and at most 15,500 people for concerts.
