“Mad Cool Festival” in Madrid 2026
Madrid is a festival city in the summer, and one of the biggest and coolest events in the city is the annual “Mad Cool Festival.” It all started in 2016, and has since then become a gigantic festival. The festival normally lasts for three days, and during this time, more than 200,000 visitors come by the area (between 60,000-80,000 per day). Such numbers attract popular artists, which is why famous bands and artists such as Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and several others have performed at the festival throughout the years.
The event is arranged at Iberdrola Music Venue, an outdoor concert area with space for more than 100,000 people. It is also used for other events, but the “Mad Cool Festival” is the biggest and most popular event hosted at the venue. During the first years of existence, “Mad Cool Festival” was arranged at Caja Magica, but since 2018, the festival has been held at its current location. Would you like to experience a festival at Caja Magica as well? Read more about Festival Rio Babel here.
Iberdrola is located in the Valdebebas-IFEMA area, which is about 30km away from the Barajas Airport. It is quite easy to travel to the festival, and if you take metro line number 3 to the stop Villaverde Alto, then you can either travel on from there by tram, or simply walk with your feet. On foot, the distance is about 1,5km from the metro stop to the festival area.
