Edvard Munch exhibition in Madrid 2015

Munch museumThere will be a major exhibition on Edvard Munch in Madrid in the autumn of 2015. That will be the very first time since 1984 that the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza will host a major exhibition on one of the most influential Norwegian painter, Edvard Munch. Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter and printmaker who had a huge impact on the German Expressionism in the early 20th century. One of his best know painting is The Scream from 1893.

So the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza will give home to the exhibition on Edvard Munch in which more than 80 paintings of him will be shown to the visitors. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to have a closer look on the most beautiful and breathtaking art works of Munch and you can also follow and discover the various periods of the painter. The exhibition will study the different styles and techniques the painter used on his paintings.

The exhibition on Edvard Munch will be shown at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid from the 6th October 2015 to the 17th January 2016.

Exhibition on Raoul Dufy

Dufy MadridThere is a major exhibition shown on Raoul Dufy at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid from February to the middle of May in 2015.

Raoul Dufy was a French Fauvist painter who was born in 1877 and he died in 1953. He is best known for his unique colourful and decorative style he developed which became a really popular design of ceramics and textiles. This is the first major exhibition only dedicated to the French painter in Madrid since 1989 and the exhibition presents over 93 art works of the painter. The exhibition shows a wide range of various art works of Dufy including watercolours, drawings, oil paintings as well as ceramics and textiles which were designed by the French artist himself during his career. The exhibition follows the development of Dufy’s paintings and it is divided into four sections, his early work, the period of Cubism, the period of the textile and ceramics design and finally his mature period. The exhibition on Raoul Dufy takes place at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid from 17th February to 17th May in 2015.

Basel in Reina Sofia

White FireA major exhibition will be shown of the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel at the Museo Reine Sofia in Madrid from the middle of March until the middle of September in 2015.

The Kunstmuseum Basel is considered as one of the best and finest museums in the world which has a great collection from the 15th and 16th centuries and from the 19th century to the 21st century alongside with a huge collection of the contemporary art in Europe. The very first time the Museo Reine Sofia will show an overall exhibition on the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel. Exhibition from the Kunstmuseum Basel

Picasso in PradoAn overall exhibition will be shown at the Museo del Prado in Madrid on Picasso during the spring and the summer of 2015. The exhibition will show the most breathtaking pictures of Picasso from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel.

Pablo Picasso is a Spanish painter, sculpture, printmaker and ceramicist who was born in 1881 and he died in 1973. Picasso is one of the most famous and most inspiring artists of the 20th century who had a great impact on the upcoming generations. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover more on the works of the artist. The exhibition on Picasso presents 10 masterpieces of the artist from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel along side with some the Museo del Prado own pieces. Patricia Gadea exhibition

GadeaThe exhibition Atomic-Circus by Patricia Gadea will be shown at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia. Patricia Gadea was a Spanish painter who was born 1960 in Madrid and she died in 2006 in Palencia. She began her career in the 1970s.

At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to see the figurative art from Madrid in the 1980s and 1990s. Gadea in her art works used the images from the Spanish comics. The Atomic-Circus exhibition will show a wide range of paintings, drawings and selections of poster boards as well. Most of her drawings are from the 1990s until her death and most of them have never been exhibited before. At the exhibition visitors can discover more of the life of the painter and the best works from her. Most of her art work has never been shown at an exhibition and it is a perfect opportunity to explore a new world of art. The exhibition Atomic-Circus by the Spanish painter Patricia Gadea will be shown at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in the central of Madrid, Spain. Goya exhibition in Madrid

Goya MadridThe exhibition presents the best art works of the Spanish painter Goya. Francisco Goya was a Spanish painter and printmaker. He was one of the most influential and most outstanding romantic painters and his art works and style had a massive affect on other painters as well.

The museum shows a big collection of art works from Goya and other paintings from the 18th century. The exhibition is focused on tapestry cartoons of Goya alongside with multiple other paintings from different painters from his time or even earlier. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to get to know one of the most popular Spanish painters of all time and to have an inside look in the life back then. Through the pictures which are on display in the museum visitors will have the chance to discover and explore Goya’s artworks and unique techniques. The exhibition will reveal through his cartoons the uniqueness of his work and visitors will understand how and why he is one of the most influential painters of this period of time. The exhibition of Goya will be displayed at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. It will be shown at the museum from 28th November 2014 until 3rd May 2015.

American Impressionism in Thyssen-Bornemisza

After the exhibition of the French impressionism in New York in 1886 which was organized by an art dealer called Paul Durand-Ruel, many American artist were inspired by the new techniques seen on the paintings. Many of the artists decided to go and visit the home of the new trend, Paris.

American ImpressionismThe first exhibition will take place in Spain to focus on the spread of the impressionism in the USA. The exhibition has approximately 60 paintings which will be analyzed how the American artists discovered impressionism in the 1880s and 1890s and how they interpreted their own new style they developed around the 1900.

The exhibition will be open first at the Musèe des Impresionnismes Giverny in France in the spring of 2014 then it will move to Edinburgh, Scotland to the National Galleries of Scotland in the summer. From November it can be seen in Madrid, Spain at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemissza.

The exhibition will be shown from 4th November until 1st February in 2015.

Pop Art Myths in Thyssen-Bornemisza

Pop art first appeared in the late 1950 and the early 1960s and it was one of the most liberating moments of art. It was a new way of expressing art by demolishing the heroic vision of the previous avant-garde movements in the new culture and technology at the time.

Pop art brought an end to the division between ‘low’ and ‘high’ culture. In pop art everything could became art and every image could be recycled. It offered a new meaning of the images and art in the contemporary culture.

Pop art was an innovative movement, on one hand it led to a new path to post modernity and on the other it was oriented towards the past. It had the desire to connect tradition by using new artistic ways with images from the television, advertising and comic books.

The exhibition takes place in Madrid in the Mueso Thyssen-Bornemissza from 10th June until 14th September 2014. The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 22.00 and from Sunday until Monday from 10.00 until 19.00 in the evening. The entrance fee for the exhibition for adults is 11euros but there are reduced tickets for children, students as well.

El Greco in the Prado Museum

The Museo del Prado is the main national museum of Madrid and it is among one of the best museums of art. It has a great collection of the European art from the 12th century until the 19th century. The museum gives home for other art works as well like sculptures and drawings. The collection is based on the formal Spanish Royal Collection.

El Greco’s work also had a big part in the spread of Cubism through the works of Derain, Modigliani and the Czech avant-garde. He had also big effect on Picasso’s art work who considered him one of the most outstanding painters ever. The first exhibition of El Greco’s art work was in the Museo del Prado in 1902. The Laocoön or his other famous work the Toledan landscapes were inspiring many artists like Ignacio Zuloaga who painted several landscapes of Toleda too, but El Greco had a big impact on Henry Moore as well who was inspired by the Vision of Saint John.
