Pop Art Myths in Thyssen-Bornemisza

Pop art first appeared in the late 1950 and the early 1960s and it was one of the most liberating moments of art. It was a new way of expressing art by demolishing the heroic vision of the previous avant-garde movements in the new culture and technology at the time.

Pop Art in Madrid

Pop art brought an end to the division between ‘low’ and ‘high’ culture. In pop art everything could became art and every image could be recycled. It offered a new meaning of the images and art in the contemporary culture.

Pop art was an innovative movement, on one hand it led to a new path to post modernity and on the other it was oriented towards the past. It had the desire to connect tradition by using new artistic ways with images from the television, advertising and comic books.

The exhibition takes place in Madrid in the Mueso Thyssen-Bornemissza from 10th June until 14th September 2014. The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 22.00 and from Sunday until Monday from 10.00 until 19.00 in the evening. The entrance fee for the exhibition for adults is 11euros but there are reduced tickets for children, students as well.

As you notice it is only 14 days left of this exhibition, so if you want to see it, make sure to visit the Thyssen Bornemisza museum within the coming two weeks!

El Greco

El GrecoIn the last third of the 19th century and in the beginning of the 20th century the rediscovery of El Greco had a great influence on many painters and also had a very important development on painting. El Greco’s work also had a big part in the spread of Cubism through the works of Derain, Modigliani and the Czech avant-garde. He had also big effect on Picasso’s art work who considered him one of the most outstanding painters ever. The first exhibition of El Greco’s art work was in the Museo del Prado in 1902. The Laocoön or his other famous work the Toledan landscapes were inspiring many artists like Ignacio Zuloaga who painted several landscapes of Toleda too, but El Greco had a big impact on Henry Moore as well who was inspired by the Vision of Saint John.

If you want to know more about El Greco’s work or you are interested in more exhibitions visit the official site and check for more information about the museum.

Where can I watch Spain – Netherlands in Madrid on June 13th?

I will be in Madrid on June 13th and I am desperately longing to see the match between Spain and Netherlands on June 13th. Can I watch this on a normal TV station in Spain? Can I watch it online? Will it be shown in pubs and restaurants in town?

The answer to your question is yes! What do we mean? You asked three questions, and the answer to all of them is simply yes. In Spain there will be a combination of pay TV channel and public TV channels that will broadcast from the World Cup, but luckily all matches with Spain playing will be available on normal free public TV, meaning that you can watch the match just about anywhere, in your hotel room, in your apartment, or where you are. This also means that you can watch the match between Spain and the Netherlands on June 13th in almost any restaurants, bar or pub around Madrid, so it will rather be impossible not to notice and to watch this match, which will be a “repeat” of the World Cup final in 2010.

If you are out running somewhere, or just sitting on the train or somewhere else and want to watch the World Cup match between Spain and the Netherlands on your Android device or maybe somewhere else, then you can watch it online. Read more about watching Spain – Netherlands online in this article.

We hope you have found this answer useful, but if you have further insight or maybe a question, just write a comment! And, may the best team win (Spain!).
