Discounted entrance fee to El Escorial

My wife and I are 66 and 71 years old. Is there a discount for entry into El Escorial?

El Escorial MadridFirst of all, thank you for your question. There are quite a lot of discounts available if you plan on visiting El Escorial, and one of those discounts are for seniors. The official El Escorial entrance fee information site tell us that:

  • Seniors above 65 years from Latin America or from Europe can enter El Escorial at a reduced rate (5 Euro instead of 10 Euro).
  • Children between 5 and 16 years can also enter at the reduced rate.
  • Students with student card at age 25 or less.

Free entrance to El Escorial

If you want to enter El Escorial for free, that can also be arranged, quite easily. Children under 5 years will always enter for free. On May 18th El Escorial has free entrance for everyone throughout the entire day.

The best option is still that every Wednesday and Thursday from 15.00-18.00 (between October and March) and between 17.00 and 20.00 from April and September there is free entrance for members of the European Union and for Latin Americans.

Spanish Drawings from the British Museum

Bruno Mars is not just versatile musician, but well-known music producer and song writer too. He worked for example with Flo Rida, Ke$ha and Adam Levine too.

Van Dyck in Madrid

The capital of Spain, Madrid, the city on the grand Meseta is waiting for all visitors with several interesting sightseeing experiences. We can talk about the famous Puerta del Sol, the Plaza Mayor or the Retiro Park, but we have to say some world about Madrid’s famous museum, the Prado Museum.

Van Dyck - PradoThe Prado Museum’s new temporary exhibition is of course the exhibition of the young Anton Van Dyck’s masterpieces. Anton Van Dyck is a Fleming painter who was born in 1599. His master was the famous Peter Paul Rubens. Van Dyck wasn’t just a pupil of Rubens, he was the right hand of the Master, and after that he was a portrait painter in the court of the British king, Charles the I.

The Prado Museum Madrid primarily shows the famous painter’s masterpieces from the early ages to the visitors. These paintings mostly illustrate historical events and we could see clearly the influence of Rubens on them. Together with the works from the Prado’s own collection we will also be able to see pieces from other collections, such as Saint Jerome in the Desert, from the Gemäldegalerie in Dresden, and Christ’s Entry into Jerusalem, from the Indianapolis Museum of Art. These masterpieces was made before Van Dyck’s journey to Italy, so we could see masterpieces before the inspirations of this trip. The trying of a starter painter give an amazing experience to the visitors.
